“Christmas Around DeMotte” is a holiday celebration designed to bring businesses, shoppers, and residents together in the spirit of the season—and there’s something fun for everyone!
From December 5th through December 25th, businesses and homes across DeMotte will be decked out in their holiday best. Register your location to be included on our Holiday Map, so families can drive around town and enjoy dazzling displays and festive décor. Or, get in on the free Holiday Bus Tour sponsored by DeMotte State Bank.

You do NOT need to be a Chamber member or retail business to participate. Dress up Christmas inside and/or outside of your business from December 12th – December 25th to be eligible to win a pizza party for your staff!

Decorate your business inside, outside, or both from December 12th–25th for a chance to win a pizza party for your staff! Make your storefront shine with lights, color, and holiday spirit—it’s the perfect way to attract shoppers and delight the community.

Judging & Prizes:
The Chamber Board of Directors will tour all entries during the contest—you don’t need to be present to win. The winning business will be announced after the January 9th Chamber Board meeting, and we’ll schedule your staff pizza party right after!
Extra Exposure:
We’ll feature all participating businesses on Facebook and tag you to help bring in more holiday traffic. Residents will also be decorating their homes, and you’re welcome to contribute a gift for the Grand Prize Residential Gift Basket—I’ll gladly stop by to pick it up.

To Be Announced
Registration is necessary to be included on the map and eligible to win the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize will be a $100 gift card to Strack & Van Til.
- Decorate the outside of your home or property. Your decorations must stay displayed from December 12th-20th to be eligible to win.
- Providing your address will get you put on the map to have people drive by and admire your Christmas beauty! There will be a bus tour during the weekends of this event and the bus will follow the map we will have made up.
- Deadline to register your residence is December 11th. This gives us time to get the official map printed.
- The guests on the Holiday Light Bus Tour will be the judges during this Holiday event. You do not need to be present for your property to be judged. Please have your lights on specifically December 18th-20th until at least 10pm.
- The prize will be a $100 gift card to Strack & Van Til

*Sign up in person at Cup of Joy Cafe – 917 S. Halleck St. (across from DeMotte Elementary)
- You will receive texts reminding you of the bus tour. Please respond to the text if you are not able to fulfil your registration obligation. This is a free tour and there is a waiting list. A full bus would be ideal!
- Where do you go to catch the bus?
- Arrive at Cup of Joy at least 15 minutes prior to your departure.

What time is loading?
- The bus leaves on three separate tours from Cup of Joy at 5:00pm, 6:30pm and 8:00pm.

Please remember to bring your non-perishable food pantry item. It could be non-perishable food or toiletry items.
- You will leave these items at Cup of Joy. The Chamber will take care of delivering them to the Good Neighbor Food Pantry in DeMotte.

Car seat laws are in effect for this event. If your child needs a car seat, you will need to provide that to the bus driver prior to loading the bus.

As a guest on the bus, you will be voting on your favorite decorated home along the route.
- We will provide you with addresses and/or numbers of the individual homes along the route. You will leave your vote with the volunteer on the bus before concluding the tour.

DeMotte Holiday Home Bus Tours
The DeMotte Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Cup of Joy Cafe to bring Holiday bus tours to DeMotte. There will be three evenings to choose from. Bring your family, friends and coworkers and load the bus to tour Christmas lights around DeMotte.
Registration is ONLY taken at the Cup of Joy Cafe in DeMotte. There is no online registration this year.
Because of our wonderfully generous sponsors, this event is FREE this year! In an effort to give back to the community, we are asking that each registrant bring a non-perishable item to be donated to the Good Neighbor Food Pantry. You will leave these items at Cup of Joy and we will deliver them to the food pantry once the event is over. Give one or give 10 items, we just want to stock the shelves at the food pantry!
Registration is mandatory and space is limited to 15 people per time slot. State laws for car seats will be enforced. You must provide a car seat per child registered. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Cancellation Notice: Breakfast & Selfies with Santa – December 6th
The DeMotte Chamber of Commerce regrets to announce that our upcoming Breakfast & Selfies with Santa, originally scheduled for Saturday, December 6th at the Connection Center, has been canceled.
Another organization in our community is hosting a similar Santa event on the same day, and in the spirit of cooperation and support for our local partners, we have decided it is best to step back and avoid creating confusion or dividing attendance for families. We sincerely appreciate the excitement and interest from families who were planning to join us. While we are disappointed to cancel, we remain committed to bringing joyful, family-friendly events to DeMotte throughout the holiday season.
We encourage the community to join us for these upcoming Chamber Christmas events:
- DeMotte Christmas Parade & Christmas in the Park Saturday, November 29th • 4:15pm–6:00 PM Enjoy festive lights, holiday music, and fun for all ages as we kick off the season together in Spencer Park with Santa!
- Holiday Bus Tours December 18, 19, & 20 Experience a magical ride through DeMotte’s holiday lights and decorations on our annual free bus tours. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay tuned for more ways to celebrate the season with us.

The parade will begin at the American Reformed Church parking lot (across from DeMotte Elementary School) and will travel north on Halleck Street to Spencer Park.
Please note: Halleck Street will remain open, so for everyone’s safety, no candy may be thrown during the parade. However, you’re welcome to hand out candy and goodies once we arrive at Spencer Park!

Santa is coming to DeMotte!
Kick off the Christmas season with us on Saturday, November 29th as Santa makes his grand entrance into town! Around 4:15pm, you’ll hear the sirens and see the lights as Santa and our cheerful parade entries are escorted by a fire truck right to Spencer Park for all the holiday magic to begin!
Gather ‘round as we light up the official DeMotte Christmas Tree, then share your wish lists with Santa himself!
Enjoy free holiday refreshments from our local businesses (while supplies last) and sing along as the Valley Singers from KVHS fills the park with your favorite Christmas carols.
The park festivities will run from 4:30–5:30pm — or until every child has had their special moment with Santa.
