3rd Annual Christmas Around DeMotte

“Christmas Around DeMotte” is a Holiday campaign designed for the businesses, shoppers and residents of DeMotte. There is something for everyone, check it out!

December 7th through December 25th businesses and residents will be decked out for Christmas! Whether you are a business or a resident, you are invited to register to be put on a map that people can drive around and view some great Holiday-scapes.

3rd Annual Business Christmas Decorating Contest

You do NOT need to be a Chamber member or retail business to participate. Dress up Christmas inside and/or outside of your business from December 7th – December 25th to be eligible to win a pizza party for your staff!

  • You must register to be included in this contest.
  • Your decorations must stay displayed from December 7th – December 25th. Consider decorating your street-side windows to add some lights, color and Holiday Spirit to DeMotte. Get creative with your offerings during this time. This is a great time to target shoppers and clients that don’t normally come in. Perhaps you can entice and offer your own Holiday Gift Drawing at this same time! I am always happy to help you promote, just let me know what you have going on.
  • Events are best and most successful when we all work together to encourage participation.
  • The Chamber Board of Directors will judge all entries during this Holiday event. The winner will be announced on January 3rd at which time your staff Pizza Party will be scheduled!
  • We will be posting this event on Facebook and tagging your business to generate exposure and get people to your business.
  • There will be a bus tour during the weekends of this event and the tour will follow the map we will have made up.
  • We will have residents registering to decorate their homes during this time too. If you would like to offer a gift to go into our Grand Prize Gift Basket to the winner of this residential decorating contest, please let me know, I will stop in to pick it up.
  • Deadline to register your business is Friday, November 22nd. This gives us the time we need to get the official map printed.

We will tag your business from the DeMotte Chamber Facebook page for this contest.

Selfie Station Showdown

This ‘shoppers’ event is separate from the Business Decorating contest; but your selfie station can be used as part of the Business decorating contest.
Shoppers will visit your business between Nov 30 and Dec 25 and take a selfie at your Holiday selfie station and post to their Facebook page tagging your business & the DeMotte Chamber. This action will put them into a Grand Prize drawing. The grand prize will be made up of prizes from each participating business.
This event will be promoted heavily through the Chamber Facebook page and all of the participating businesses.
Rules:
  • Must register by November 22
  • Design of the backdrop must have indication of your business (logo, decorations, etc.)
  • (i.e.) “Shop Small” must be somewhere in the background (DeMotte Chamber will provide a graphic for you to use)
  • “LoveWhereYouLive” must be somewhere in the background (DeMotte Chamber will provide a graphic for you to use)
  • Must be prepared for selfie shoppers by November 30th and run through December 25th.
  • You are encouraged but not required to have a drawing of your own to entice shoppers to visit you. Let me know what you are doing and I will promote this for you too!
This event is open to all businesses, not just retailers. If you are a service provider, consider giving swag to all your selfie visitors. Business that are not DeMotte Chamber members will be charged $25 to be part of the promotion of this Holiday event. Become a Chamber member today to waive your event fee

3rd Annual Residential Christmas Decorating Contest

Registration is necessary to be included on the map and eligible to win the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize will be a basket of gifts from local businesses.

  • Decorate the outside of your home or property. Your decorations must stay displayed from December 7th – December 25th to be eligible to win.
  • Providing your address will get you put on the map to have people drive by and admire your Christmas beauty! There will be a bus tour during the weekends of this event and the bus will follow the map we will have made up.
  • Deadline to register your residence is Thursday, November 21st. This gives us time to get the official map printed.
  • The Chamber Board of Directors will be the judges during this Holiday event. You do not need to be present for your property to be judged.

2024 Residential Christmas Decorating Registration Form

Address where decorated house is located. This address will be placed on a map for distribution. If you do not provide an address, you will not be eligible for the contest.
Please choose your email or cell phone for the DeMotte Chamber to communicate to you about the event. One of these methods is necessary for us to contact you in the event that your home wins the grand prize. Your information you provide will NEVER be distributed or sold for any reason and will be used only by the DeMotte Chamber.

DeMotte Holiday Home Bus Tours

The DeMotte Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Cup of Joy Cafe to bring Holiday bus tours to DeMotte. There will be five evenings with three different times to choose from. Bring your family, friends and coworkers and load the bus to tour Christmas lights around DeMotte.

100% of the registration fees will go towards the Good Neighbor Food Pantry in DeMotte. Registration is mandatory and space is limited to 15 people per time slot. State laws for car seats will be enforced. You must provide a car seat per child registered. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Pick up and drop off will take place at:

Cup of Joy Cafe (across from DeMotte Elementary School)

DeMotte, IN

Dates / Times:

December 6 & 7 – 5:00pm – 6:30pm – 8:00pm
December 13 (adults only night 18 and older) 5:00pm – 6:30pm – 8:00pm (no bus tour on December 14)
December 20 & 21 – 5:00pm – 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Registration is secure and there will be no refunds issued.

Adults – $10
5-12 years old – $7.50
under 5 – free

Breakfast & Selfies with Santa: Saturday, December 7th at the DeMotte American Legion from 9am-11am

  • This is a free event to all.
  • DeMotte Auxiliary Unit 440 will be co-hosting this event.
  • Santa will be on hand for selfies and holiday wishes. Be sure to bring your camera or cell phone!
  • Free breakfast for all will be served.
  • Free Holiday crafts and activities will be provided by these fine businesses:
    • Belstra Milling – Letters to Santa
    • NorthShore Health – Holiday coloring pages and jewelry craft
    • Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance – Holiday wooden ornament craft
    • Aperion Care DeMotte – Holiday cookie decorating
    • Cup of Joy Cafe – Snowflakes craft
  • NEW PARADE ROUTE IN 2024!!! The parade route is from American Reformed Church parking lot across from DeMotte Elementary School and will proceed north to Spencer Park
    • Parade Entrants: Be at American Reformed Church on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 3:30pm for line-up. The parade will commence around 3:45pm (CST)
  • Open to any business, organization or resident/family. You MUST register to participate.
  • Halleck St. will NOT be closed; however, police escort will take place.
  • NO CANDY CAN BE THROWN. This is because the road is not closed and for the safety of everyone involved.
  • CANDY AND GOODIES can be given at Spencer Park once we arrive following the downtown parade.
  • Once at Spencer Park, the official tree lighting will take place near the basketball courts.
  • Santa will be taking children’s Christmas gift requests at the band shell following the tree lighting.
  • Businesses will be on hand with free goodies as well.
  • Free refreshments will be served.
  • Christmas Carols by the KVHS Choir
  • Deadline to register for the parade is at noon on Saturday, November 30th.

Entry Information

Have fun with your entry. Make it bright and colorful with lots of lights and even music. This is an evening parade and anything with lights will show off well! Candy throwing is NOT ALLOWED. We will only have police escort through town, the road will NOT be closed for this parade, so for the safety of our community, we will not allow candy to be thrown on the parade route. Candy can be distributed once all of the entries get to Spencer Park.

Santa is visiting DeMotte on Saturday, November 30th. He, as well as other parade entries will be escorted to Spencer Park by a fire truck at approximately 4:00pm. An official tree lighting will take place and then Santa will be available to take all your Christmas wish lists!

Local businesses will be set up at Spencer Park to offer free Holiday refreshments while supplies last and the KVHS Choir will sing us all some of our favorite Holiday Christmas Carols.

This Holiday event will go from 4:00-5:00pm or until all the kids have seen Santa. We look forward to seeing you!
